Notary Invoice Template
Statutory per-act fee, travel, printing and signing service, itemised. Free PDF.
A notary invoice has to do something unusual: separate a fee the state has capped from fees it has not. The notarial act itself is limited by statute — two dollars in New York, ten in Florida, twenty-five in Maine, and about ten states set no cap at all — while travel, printing and the hours a loan signing takes are your own to price. Merged into one number, the whole invoice looks like it breached the cap.

What to put on a notary invoice
- Each notarial act counted, at or below your state's statutory maximum
- Travel or mobile fee as a separate, clearly non-statutory line
- Document printing, where you printed a loan package
- The signing service itself, priced for the appointment rather than per signature
- Remote online notarisation separately, since most states set a different statutory fee for it
- Your commission number and expiry, which title companies check
Questions
Can I charge more than my state's notary fee?
Not for the notarial act. What you can charge for is everything around it — travel, printing, waiting, the time it takes to walk a signer through a hundred-page loan package. Those are separate services and belong on separate lines, which is exactly what keeps the capped fee visibly at the cap.
How is a loan signing priced?
Usually as a flat appointment fee covering printing, travel and the signing itself, with the notarial acts itemised inside it. The appointment fee is where the money is; the acts are a few dollars each and are capped.
Is remote online notarisation billed differently?
In most states, yes — RON carries its own statutory fee, commonly higher than the in-person one, and several states allow a separate technology fee on top. Check your own state's figure rather than reusing your in-person rate.
