What Harvest is good at
It's genuinely good time-tracking software with invoicing built on top — timesheets, project budgets and team reporting sit behind the same login as the invoice. For a team that bills hourly and wants all of that together, Harvest is a mature, capable choice, and this page isn't arguing otherwise.
Where it stops
- Harvest's own FAQ says you reach the free plan during the upgrade process — it is not something a new visitor picks at signup the way it is elsewhere.
- The route there is a 30-day trial first, and Harvest's own FAQ says a trial that hasn't been upgraded by then will be automatically deactivated — the default outcome of doing nothing is losing the account, not landing on free.
- It is a time-tracking tool that also invoices, not an invoicing tool — a business that only wants to send invoices sets up timesheets and project budgets it may never open.
What we do differently
BillingHub has no trial to fall out of. The free generator hands you a finished invoice with no account and no clock running, and the paid side is a credit you buy when you're ready rather than a plan you get deactivated out of.
When to choose Harvest over us
If your business already tracks time and wants invoices generated from those hours, Harvest is the more complete tool and worth the trial. We only do invoices, estimates and quotes — we track nothing about how the work was done.
Common questions
- Do I need to start a trial to use BillingHub for free?
- No. The invoice generator has no trial and no account to fall out of — it is free the first time you open it, not after 30 days.
