What Invoice Ninja is good at
It is a serious, free product: unlimited invoicing for up to five clients, quotes and recurring billing included, plus a self-hosted option for anyone who wants their own server instead of a hosted account. For a freelancer who doesn't mind sharing the page with another company's name, that is a lot of software for nothing.
Where it stops
- Every free-tier invoice, quote and proposal carries "Created by Invoice Ninja" printed inside the document itself, not laid over a preview you can crop out.
- Removing that one line is exactly what the paid plan sells; nothing about your client limit or your features changes when you pay for it.
- The document goes to your client, not to you, so the free plan's real audience for that line is the person you're trying to get paid by.
When to choose Invoice Ninja over us
If self-hosting matters to you, or you want proposals, tasks and time tracking under the same login as your invoices, Invoice Ninja's toolkit goes further than ours does. We only produce invoices, estimates and quotes, and nothing we generate carries our own name on it.
Common questions
- Does BillingHub print its own name on my invoice the way Invoice Ninja's free plan does?
- No. Not on an issued invoice, and not on the PDF the free generator hands you — nothing this application produces carries its own name on a document you send to a client.
