What Stripe Invoicing is good at
It's Stripe's own invoicing layer, built directly on the account you may already use for payments, subscriptions or checkout elsewhere in your business. If you're already deep in the Stripe dashboard for other reasons, adding invoicing there means one login and one reconciliation view for everything Stripe touches.
Where it stops
- On top of the card processing fee every invoicing tool pays Stripe when a client pays by card, Stripe Invoicing adds its own charge for issuing the invoice — a percentage of every paid invoice, with no ceiling, and the rate depends on which plan you're on.
- That fee scales with the size of the invoice, not the work of producing it — a large invoice costs proportionally more to send than a small one, for the same document.
- There's no free tier for issuing an invoice at all — every paid invoice carries the fee.
What we do differently
We charge a credit, a flat amount, for issuing an invoice — the same cost whether the invoice is small or large. Card payments still run through Stripe Connect, at the standard processing rate, but we don't add anything on top of that rate for the invoice itself.
When to choose Stripe Invoicing over us
If you're already running subscriptions, checkout or other billing through Stripe and want everything under one dashboard, staying inside Stripe end to end has real value that a per-invoice fee elsewhere doesn't outweigh. We're for the business that wants an invoice's cost to depend on the document, not on how much it's for.
Common questions
- Does BillingHub use Stripe too?
- Yes. Card payments on your invoices go through your own Stripe Connect account — the same processing rate Stripe Invoicing charges, without an added fee for issuing the document.
- Does a larger invoice cost more to issue?
- No. Issuing an invoice spends one credit regardless of its size.
