Insulation Invoice Template
R-value, square footage, air sealing and removal. Free PDF, no account.
Insulation is sold as a number the customer cannot see once it is installed, which makes the invoice the only proof of what they bought. R-value, material and depth belong on it — and so does air sealing, because it is usually the work that made the biggest difference and the line most often left out.

What to put on a insulation invoice
- Area treated in square feet, by location: attic, walls, crawlspace, rim joist
- The R-value achieved and the material used to reach it
- Installed depth for blown material, which is how R-value is verified afterwards
- Air sealing as its own line — it is separate work and it is what makes the insulation perform
- Removal and disposal of old or contaminated insulation
- Ventilation work: baffles, soffit clearance, bath fan ducting corrected
Questions
Why record installed depth as well as R-value?
Because depth is what anyone can check later. Blown insulation settles and coverage varies across an attic; a depth stated on the invoice and marked on the rulers in the attic is what lets a homeowner, an inspector or an energy auditor confirm they got what they paid for.
Is air sealing part of insulating?
It is separate work and should be a separate line. Insulation slows heat moving through materials; air sealing stops it moving around them. Insulating a leaky attic without sealing it first is the most common way this trade disappoints a customer who paid for a warmer house.
Should old insulation always come out?
No, and the invoice should say why it did. Removal is warranted where the material is contaminated, wet or rodent-affected — and it roughly doubles the job, so a customer who sees it billed without a reason assumes it was optional.
