Insulation Quote Template
R-value, coverage, air sealing and the rebate you will file. Free PDF, no sign-up.
Insulation is sold as a number the client cannot verify by looking at it, which is exactly why the quote has to be specific. R-value, depth, coverage area and product are the whole document, and all four are known before the first bag is opened. A quote that says "insulate attic" and gives a price is asking for trust it has not earned; one that says R-49, 1,850 square feet, blown cellulose to marked depth rulers has already made its case.

What this quote commits you to
- How long it stands
- 30 days, at the foam supplier's current drum price; blown cellulose is held for the same window.
- What it does not cover
- Air sealing beyond the penetrations listed, vapour barriers an inspector adds afterwards, knob-and-tube remediation, and any drywall cut to gain access.
- What would change the price
- An attic that measures deeper than the plan, or a knee wall found open to the eaves — both change the bag count rather than the rate.
- How the client accepts it
- Accept by signing the quote; the rebate paperwork we file on your behalf is prepared from the accepted version of it.

What to put on an insulation quote
- R-value and the installed depth that produces it, per area
- Coverage area by square foot, and depth rulers left in place as proof
- The product by name: blown cellulose, fibreglass batt, open or closed cell foam
- Air sealing listed as its own line — it is the work that makes the R-value real
- Baffles, dam boxes at can lights, and attic hatch treatment
- Ventilation kept clear at the soffit, stated as part of the scope
- The rebate programme you will file for, and what the client has to sign for it
Questions
Why price air sealing separately from insulation?
Because they are separate work with separate value, and bundling them lets a cheaper competitor look like they quoted the same job. Sealing the top plates and penetrations first is what stops the new insulation being a filter for warm air.
How does spray foam change what the quote must say?
Closed-cell foam is priced by board foot from a drum, so the quote should carry the board-foot count and the thickness. It is also the one product where re-entry time and ventilation matter to the household, and the quote is the right place to say how long they need to be out.
Who claims the rebate?
Say so on the document. If you file it, the client needs to sign a release and know the money reaches them later; if they file it, they need the product data sheet and the invoice in a particular form, and finding that out afterwards is how rebates get missed.
