What to put on a pet sitting invoice

  • The pets by name, since that is how the client thinks about the bill
  • Visits and walks counted by type and duration
  • Overnight stays, which are priced apart from drop-in visits
  • Holiday surcharge, named and dated rather than folded into the rate
  • Extras — medication administration, litter, plants, mail — as their own lines
  • Any transport to a vet or groomer, with the mileage

Questions

Should holiday rates be a separate line?

Yes, with the dates. A surcharge folded into the visit rate looks like a price rise; the same money on a line reading "Thanksgiving surcharge, 2 days" is one nobody argues with.

How do I bill medication administration?

As its own line per visit or per day. It is skilled work with real liability, it takes longer than a drop-in, and clients who need it are the least price-sensitive customers you have.
