What this quote commits you to

How long it stands: 30 days. Crew, kit and edit days are quoted as one package and are not separable once shoot dates are held.
What it does not cover: Music licensing, voice-over artists, motion graphics and animation, captioning in languages other than English, and talent fees.
What would change the price: A shoot day that overruns its call sheet, and any re-edit after the picture-locked cut has been signed off.
How the client accepts it: Sign the production quote and confirm the shoot dates; call sheets are issued a week before the first one.

What to put on a videography quote

Shoot days with call times, and the crew roles on each one
Kit: cameras, lighting, audio, and whether a gimbal or drone is included
Edit days separated from shoot days on their own lines
Deliverables by cut and duration — a 90-second hero and three 15-second cutdowns are four deliverables
Rounds of notes included before picture-lock, and what a change after it costs
Music licence, its term and the territory it covers
Aspect ratios and versions per platform, counted rather than assumed

Questions

What is picture-lock and why does it belong on a quote?

It is the point where the edit is agreed and only sound and grade remain. Naming it turns the open-ended part of video production into a bounded one — after picture-lock, a change is quoted, and both sides knew that before the first shoot day.

Should cutdowns be priced as separate deliverables?

Yes. A vertical fifteen-second version is a different edit with different framing, not an export, and agencies routinely ask for six of them on the assumption that they come free with the hero film.

Who pays for the music licence?

The client, at cost, and the quote should name the term and the territory. Music licensed for social use and music licensed for a paid campaign are different fees, and a film that outlives its licence is a legal problem delivered along with the file.
