Electrical Invoice Template
Permit, inspection, per-circuit labour and materials — the lines an electrical job is actually billed in. Free PDF, no account.
An electrical job carries costs a customer did not choose and cannot compare: the permit, the inspection, the utility disconnect. Those belong on their own lines, priced at what they cost, so the part of the invoice that is your work reads as your work. This template separates pass-through fees from labour and materials, which is the distinction most electrical billing disputes turn on.

What to put on an electrical invoice
- Your electrical licence number and, where you carry it, your bond number
- Permit and inspection fees as pass-through lines at cost
- Labour by circuit or by task, rather than one line reading 'electrical work'
- Materials by item — breakers, wire by the foot, devices — with quantities
- Any utility coordination or disconnect fee charged by a third party
- The warranty period on workmanship, stated on the invoice rather than in a separate letter
Questions
Should permit fees appear on the invoice?
Yes, and at cost, on their own line. A permit charged inside a labour line looks like an unexplained rate rise, while the same figure named as a permit is the one line on an electrical invoice a customer never argues with — they know it is not yours to set.
How should I bill a panel upgrade?
As the panel and its breakers as materials, the labour to install it, and the permit and inspection separately. A single lump sum for a panel upgrade is the hardest kind of invoice to defend a year later, when the customer sells the house and the buyer's inspector asks what was done.
Is electrical labour taxable?
It depends on the state, and often on whether the work is a repair or a capital improvement. Materials are far more often taxable than labour, which is why they are separate lines here — one combined line cannot carry the right tax.
About the free invoice generator
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. There is no fee, no trial period and no watermark on the PDF. Nothing on this page requires a credit card.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Fill in the form and download the PDF directly — there is no sign-up and no login for this tool.
What file do I get?
