Glass and Glazing Invoice Template

Glass by unit and specification, tempering, frames and installation. Free PDF.

Glass is priced by what it is as much as by how big it is: tempered, laminated, low-E, insulated, and each of those is a different product at a different price. An invoice that says only "window" gives a customer no way to understand why one opening cost twice what the next one did.

What to put on a glass and glazing invoice

  • Each unit by size and by specification — tempered, laminated, insulated, coated
  • Where safety glazing was required by code, since that is not an upsell
  • Frames, hardware and seals separately from the glass itself
  • Site measure, which is a visit before any glass is cut
  • Removal and disposal of the broken or old unit
  • Lead time and whether the unit was made to order, since custom glass cannot be returned

Questions

Why is one pane so much more than another?

Specification. Tempered glass is heat-treated and cannot be cut afterwards; laminated has an interlayer; insulated units are two panes with a sealed cavity; coatings add cost again. Naming the specification is what makes the price legible rather than arbitrary.

When is safety glazing required?

Building codes require it in defined locations — doors, glass near doors and floors, tub and shower enclosures, and large panes in certain positions. It is not optional and it is not a choice you made to increase the bill, so the invoice should say the code required it.

Can custom glass be returned?

No, which is why the measure matters and why deposits on made-to-order units are normal. Saying so on the invoice is far better than saying it after a customer has changed their mind.
