Tree work is priced on risk as much as on size: the same oak costs one figure in an open yard and three times that over a roof and a power line. The invoice has to show what made the job what it was — the access, the rigging, the crane — or the price reads as arbitrary against a neighbour's much smaller bill.

What to put on a tree service invoice

  • Each tree by species and approximate size, and what was done to it
  • Access and rigging, where the drop zone was constrained
  • Crane or lift hire, at cost and by the day
  • Stump grinding, which is separate work and often declined
  • Debris haul-away, or a note that chips were left on site
  • Your arborist certification and proof of insurance, which is the whole reason a homeowner chooses one bid over another

Questions

Why is one removal so much more than another?

Access and what is underneath it. A tree that can be felled in one piece is a morning's work; the same tree over a roof has to come down in sections, rigged and lowered, and that is what the invoice should say so the price is legible.

Should stump grinding be included?

Quote it separately. Plenty of customers decline it or defer it, and a bundled price makes both awkward — they cannot see what declining saves them.
